The Obligatory Introduction Post for Newbies Starting Blogs Out of the Blue

If the title of this post didn’t make it painstakingly obvious what I was trying to achieve, allow me to elaborate; I assume it’s best to start any sort of blog with some sort of general introduction regarding the person starting the blog, where they can state what they’re about, as well as what said blog’s about. So, yeah…this is that post.

I share this knowing full well at least for now, I’m pretty much typing to myself. I carry hardly any social media presence, and I’m not exactly ready to plug this to the moon or anything, nor am I well-connected amongst those in the writing community. However, I want to put this out there now, in the hopeful case people come along this in the future, and if they’re like “what’s the deal with this dude,” they can simply come to this page for the full explanation (or just hit the “About” link for the less personalized, “oh my gosh I’m talking right at you” style I’m going for here)

So, for now, I think we’ll skip over the long diatribes of where my personal existence has led me on this plane of life, and let’s focus simply on the writing. I’ve enjoyed writing since I was very young. I still remember in Kindergarten, I wrote some ridiculous illustrated chapter book that was, in fact, Star Wars fan fiction. This then morphed into Buffy the Vampire Slayer fanfiction by the time I was in middle school, and slowly, but surely, my ideas became thine own. By the time I was in my teens, I was *attempting* to craft novels. They were horrendous, but it added to my experience and the dream stayed alive.

This was a love that I fully admit was not truly nurtured as well as it should have been, as I allowed my youth to get the better of me at several turns. There would be periods where I’d write with great fervor, diving deep into a project, but after these episodes, there was always a long lull where I decided to partake in other activities and “young folk fun” that provided a wealth of memories to craft from, but wasn’t doing much to actually make me a better writer.

So here we are, in my early 30’s, trying to make up for last time and really get this “writing thing” off of the ground. So far, this past year or so has been my most creative yet; I’ve crafted perhaps two dozen or so short stories that I’m in the process of editing/shopping around, and I’ve finally starting sending out my work with regularity. So far this year, I’ve had six submissions; two are still pending, two acceptances, two rejections. It’s been an ok year, but I’m looking to finish strong.

Anyway, here in this blog I’ll be talking about my writing journey, as well as sharing my own thoughts/feelings/emotions on the horror genre as a whole in a variety of medias. For now, I just wanted to put up a post and say to the big, wide internet world….

Hello.

P.S. The blog in general is currently going through a big uphaul so expect some different looks in the coming posts. Thanks for reading!
